Luke Fedlam is a personal, non-agent sports attorney with more than 15 years of experience, focused on protecting and educating professional athletes at any phase of their career. Luke and Porter Wright's Sports Law Practice regularly advise a range of clients across the country – from student athletes transitioning into professional sports, professional athletes navigating life on a team, to retiring athletes creating the game plan for their life after sports.

 

Luke brings a well-rounded approach to the challenges athletes face, working with an athlete's team of advisors to provide essential, objective, thorough and balanced counsel necessary to leverage the opportunity at hand. Prior to joining Porter Wright, Luke served as a legal manager in the mergers & acquisitions area and director of business development at The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company.

 

In 2015, Luke created Anomaly Sports Group to transform his daily work with athletes, families and advisors into educational programs for athletes at all levels. With a shared passion for athlete protection and professional development, Porter Wright works in tandem with Anomaly as an educational resource, consulting with both collegiate and professional sports organizations on student–athlete development and player engagement programming.

 

Luke received a B.A. from Wake Forest University and a J.D. from The Ohio State University. He is admitted to the Ohio Bar and is a member of the American Bar Association, Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries and the Sport Lawyers Association.

MARCUS BANKS 

Associate Team Counsel

Los Angeles Clippers

Marcus Banks serves as in house counsel for the Los Angeles Clippers, focusing on basketball operations, where he provides analysis on the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and other NBA Rules and governing doctrines. He is also responsible for handling the immigration status of foreign players and team international travel, liaising with the NBA on various compliance and operational matters, and other legal matters. 

  

Additionally, Marcus provides counsel on the business objectives of the LA Clippers, including negotiating all team sponsorship deals and partnerships, assistance in employment matters, and the team’s regional sports network television deal and other team initiatives focused on content distribution. 

 

Marcus joined the Clippers in 2016. Before joining the Clippers, Marcus worked in Legal & Business Affairs for United Talent Agency, focusing on Motion Picture Talent and Independent Film Financing.  

 

Prior to moving from New York to Los Angeles, Marcus worked in Business Development at the international law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP where he assisted the firm in acquiring clients in the Sports, Entertainment & Media industries. Prior to joining Freshfields, Marcus worked in Legal & Business Affairs for the Madison Square Garden Company focusing on the New York Knicks and New York Liberty. Prior to joining MSG, Marcus was an Intellectual Property Coordinator for the National Basketball Association. Marcus Banks earned his law degree from Rutgers Law School.

Carolina Panthers

 Ese Ighedosa, a Kansas City, MO native, currently serves as Associate Counsel for the Carolina Panthers. In her position, Ese works on a variety of legal and business affairs including, but not limited to, sponsorship sales, events and entertainment, worker’s compensation, employment matters, and marketing. Ese also advises current and former
Panthers players on social justice and community engagement by leading the team’s Player Impact Committee. In her first year with the team, Ese founded Stride, the first official Black employee resource group at an NFL club.


Prior to joining the Panthers, Ese worked in legal and business affairs at the National Football League office in New York City. During her time at the NFL, she co-founded and served as co-chair for the Black Engagement Network (BEN), a groundbreaking employee resource group that looks to enhance the NFL’s engagement of its Black employees and the diverse community at-large. BEN won the coveted Commissioner’s Award for Teamwork in 2018. Encouraged by the impact of BEN, Ese also founded the Black ERG Collective, comprising of Black ERG’s from influential companies.


Ese got her start interning for the Minnesota Vikings during law school. She then interned and worked for NFL Films, where she oversaw footage licensing for various NFL Films productions. What proved to be Ese’s most formative experience was interning for the lawyers representing the family of Trayvon Martin while in her 2L year of law school. Ese is a proud graduate of two HBCU’s, playing D-1 volleyball for Hampton University and graduating in 2009 with an honors degree in political science and receiving her juris doctorate from Florida A&M University College of Law in 2013.


In her spare time, Ese is a volunteer volleyball coach at West Charlotte High School, serves on the board for the Julius Peppers Foundation, and seeks to advance the opportunities for women of color in professional sports.

The goal of Diverse Representation is to increase the exposure and hiring of Black agents, attorneys, managers and publicists working in the sports and entertainment industries. We provide the first ever comprehensive directory of African-American agents, attorneys, managers and publicists as well as host various programs and events throughout the country.
